Six Strings – Make them ring
The six-string guitar is my favorite instrument. In my humble opinion, it is the perfect instrument, able to create so many different, wonderful sounds. Varying from acoustic to electric, this instrument is bar none the best. The guitar’s six strings are placed over a hollow or solid body, and strung across a neck which contains frets. When a fret is pressed, and a string is plucked, it produces a different note for each fret. Acoustic guitars can simply be played without any other equipment. You can either use your fingers, or a plectrum (pick) to strum the strings. It is customary to use a guitar strap for comfort and proper posture. Electric guitars generally need amplification to be played. Again, they can be strummed either with the fingers or with a plectrum. Devices called “pickups” take the notes being played and allow them to be heard through the amplifier. Guitars come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Some famous guitar manufacturers include Fender, Gibson and Martin. Guitars range in price from as little as $50 for some parlor models, to upwards of $20,000 and more for unique, custom models. The guitar is a good instrument for anyone interested in music to learn. It is simple to start playing chords, and in no time learn your first song. I recommend the guitar to anyone wanting to learn a musical instrument.
